Improving Content Management
Vermont Food Education Every Day (Vermont FEED) and the Northeast Organic Farming Association of Vermont (NOFA-VT) are organizations partnered in supporting local agriculture and healthy food. Both had a content management system that limited staff ability to keep their websites up to date. Pete and Emily Frazier migrated both sites to Drupal, maintaining the same design for NOFA-VT and making some design changes for Vermont FEED. Drupal allowed more staff to easily edit the sites from any location, keeping content up to date and freeing time for other work.
Both organizations also took this opportunity to increase their site function. Pete created a database for NOFA-VT’s farmer/apprentice match program, allowing farmers and farm workers to sign up and manage their own accounts. This new tool has already served about 100 farms and 200 farm workers. Daniel installed and configured CiviEvent to provide a registration tool for NOFA’s annual conference, allowing registrants to choose from several workshop options and pay at different rates based on membership. Pete provided Vermont FEED with an interactive community map where users can post information about their own “Farm to School” programs.
We needed to be able to update our site in house and Tamarack made that possible. They were very responsive and helpful throughout the project, especially when unforeseen issues came up. They completed work within a tight time frame and empowered us to make our own changes once we took over ownership of the site.
